How Long Does My Sponsorship Last?​

Most sponsors commit on an annual basis but renew their sponsorship each year. You can also choose to sponsor a child for a certain timeframe, such as until their high school or college graduation.

What Services Do We Offer?​
​
We offer home-based, faith-centered care for orphans impacted by poverty through Christian schooling, access to medical services and provision of basic needs. ​

Why Support Smaller Nonprofits?​
Though not as big as most development and relief agencies, Life Builders has some unique features that most big organizations do not have. We are an indigenous/local response to local needs; we know our people very well and can serve them better than any foreign organization.


Why Nigeria?

The highest number of people in Africa infected with HIV/AIDS reside in Lagos, Nigeria. The number of HIV/AIDS orphans and homeless children in Lagos is more than the number of orphans and homeless children in Kenya or the entire Southern Africa.

How Many Gifts Can I Give My Sponsored Child?​
​
Sponsors can donate birthday, Christmas and/or graduation gifts to their sponsored child. There is no minimum or maximum gift amount, however we encourage sponsors to donate around $30 per gift per child to keep amounts consistent throughout the program.

Can I Purchase A Specific Gift For My Sponsored Orphan?
​
Our organization gives your special occasion gift money directly to your sponsored child to spend as they wish. However, sponsors can choose a specific item, such as a doll, book or toy car, and our staff will purchase this item and give it to your sponsored child.


How does Life Builders procure funding?​
​
Life Builders is funded by the Life Builders Hospital, grant foundations and generous donors.

What are the first steps to sponsoring an orphan?​

Life Builders now has 57 college, trade school and Higher National Diploma graduates.


What is a Higher National Diploma?​
A Higher National Diploma is equivalent to the US Masters Degree. Some career paths require this accreditation, such as a medical or science position.
On average, how many patients are treated through Life Builders Hospital on an annual basis?​

Over 2,000 patients receive treatment at our hospital each year. Since the opening of the first hospital, we have helped more than 10,000 people receive affordable healthcare.

How many small businesses have been helped through the Life Builders Small Business Loan Program?​
​
Over 107 small business owners have benefited from the Life Builders microfinancing loan program.


What is the total number of sponsored orphans since the organization was founded?​
​
Life Builders has provided sponsorship to over 270 orphans since 2001.
How many widows have been employed and sponsored through Life Builders?​
​
We have provided jobs and support for over 66 orphans since launching our program.

How many orphans have graduated from Life Builders Academy?​
​
Life Builders Academy now boasts 47 high school graduates from the sponsored orphan program.


What grades does my sponsorship last through?​
​
Orphans can be sponsored from birth through Higher National Diploma, however you can end your sponsorship at any level.

Should I sponsor my orphan through college or trade school?​
​
This is a personal decision, however without your support, your sponsored child will not be able to attend higher education and will be limited in their future career.

What is the age range of sponsored orphans?​
​
Currently, orphans range from birth to 25 years old and are sponsored from nursery to their Higher National Diploma certification.


How long is the school year in Nigeria?​
​
Sponsored orphans attend school in trimesters with the first one starting in August and the third finishing in July. There is no gap in the summer.
How can donors help other than making financial contributions?​
​

Do I need to be involved in a church to sponsor an orphan?​
​
Although we partner with local churches, you do not need to be involved in a church to sponsor an orphan. Anyone can help save lives!


Are there any requirements to sponsoring an orphan?​
​
There is a monthly fee depending on your orphan’s age, but there are no other requirements.
Do I have to write to my orphan?​
​
Although the orphans enjoy receiving letters, it is not mandatory to write to your sponsored child.

Do sponsors ever have the opportunity to meet their sponsored orphan?​
​
Each year, the Life Builders Mission Team leads a trip to Lagos. If you are interested in traveling with the group, please reach out to us.


Does Lifebuilders have control of which schools each orphan attends?​
​
Depending on the location of the orphan, the will attend Life Builders Academy, or another approved school where they will receive a quality education.

What does a typical day of school look like for an orphan?​

A typical day includes core classes like STEM, and elective courses focused on specific disciplines that the students are interested in pursuing (art, music, sewing, writing).

What happens to the children who do not receive sponsors?​
​

How often to the founders visit the US?​
​
Emmanuel and Blessing usually visit the Chicago-land area once per year, however this has been delayed due to the pandemic. They will return in Fall 2022.
