Life Builders Hospital & the Alakuko Clinic

Life Builders has made great progress in the development and growth of our two hospitals this past month. Although we were unable to break even in February, we hope that the investment in the ambulance will increase our ability to serve the community and that the hospitals will become self-funded in the next few months. Both hospitals are accessible to Life Builders sponsored orphans and boarding school students. Thanks to our generous donors, we have built a Medical Laboratory which has been self sufficient and serves both the hospital and other clinics in the community. We are currently hiring a full-time Medical Lab Scientist and have hired a Medical Lab Tech.
Current projects include bringing donated medical equipment back to Nigeria during our upcoming trip to Indiana, Washington D.C. and Illinois in May, as well as repairing the Life Builders Hospital roof which has been recently damaged. We are still fundraising for a Patient Monitor, Suction machine and additional medical equipment to outfit the new ambulance and hope to do so by the end of the month.
Life Builders Academy
Life Builders Academy held a successful Parent Teacher Meeting this month. There was a large turnout of parents with constructive comments and positive feedback on the progress they’ve seen in their children’s performance during the new term. Our high school students are preparing to take their WAEC and UTME exams this April, and our Primary school and Junior high students are excited for the Mission Team's visit in June. There is ongoing renovation work and we are repainting the entire building. We are also trying to make more desks and chairs available for the students.
Small Business Loan Project
The Small Business Loan Project began two years ago thanks to one of our partners, Christ Church Lake Forest. They have been an integral part of our organization and have provided immeasurable support to our widows, graduated orphans, Life Builders staff and others within our local community. This month, we began distributing the 3rd batch of loans and hope to begin charging interest this year to maintain the expenses of running this program in the future.
